Make unlocked skills available when you switch Professions
I think this would be a rather good idea that would be easily implemented and shouldn't change the balance of the game at all, but would make the game MUCH better.
Basically, say you're a E/me and you've unlocked all the skills. Now you have a w/mo as your second character. Right now, if you choose w/mo, you're basically going to have to stick with a w/mo, and PvPing with your PvE characters becomes very limited. However, if the skills you already unlocked with your e/me becomes unlocked for your w/mo too, then you can switch your w/mo to a w/me or w/e and instantly have access to the skills you've already unlocked.
Currently, the profession change quests are mostly useless because by the time you can change, you really don't have many skill points left to spend. However, if all your characters have access to the the skills of all your other characters, then it'd make the profession change quests useful. Now, instead of having to make a PvP character, you can actually use your PvE characters in PvP without being severely limited.
This also doesn't cheapen things, because you'll still only have access to the skills you've already unlocked. You'll still have to get the skill points to unlock the skills first before your other characters can access them.

This sounds quite good to me.
However, just to let you know, once you change profession you can get a few skills by going back to Old Ascalon and finding the skill quests for your new profession. They'll be easy to do since you're already level 20.

Yeah, I've done all of them with my Elementalist, but its not really enough to build a good PvP character out of. I've unlocked all the elementalist/mesmer/necromancer/warrior elites and about 80% of their respective skills and I'd like to use them when I change professions XD

Makes a bit of sense to me except for one thing: lets say you've unlocked all W/Mo skills witha PvE char. If you create a brand new W/Mo character, do they get access to all those skills right away?
If that was the case, then you'd be voiding the need for skill points for all future characters. Seems the developers wouldn't like that...

I like this idea, It will be useful once expansions come out and you want to get the new skills.

I like the idea about beating the game or switching your sub unlocks all your normal skills, but I would have you still needing to capture all of your ellites.

Make it so that it skills only become available after you ascend and do the profession switch quests.

You can do that?
I assumed (apparently mistakenly) that this would not work, and that the game would mark those skills as done already.

mhm, nice idea.
and bout the other reply..
I don't see why anyone would create another character with the exact same profession combo W/Mo and another W/Mo.
but that indeed can be fixed like that.
And it's not that you will want them from the start, it's that they are already unlocked by other characters, and you'll get them after ascension, brilliant.
though another idea might be.
if you change profession, the game will trace back which quests you have done that have gained you secondary profession skills and which you have gotten from Skill Masters.
and then replaces all those skills with the skills you would've gotten if you started of with another sec. profession.
in example.
let's say a certain quest near lion's arch gives you a monk skill
and the exact same quest would give a ranger a different skill.
now let's say you're a W/Mo. and you'd change into a W/R that monk skill gotten from the quest would be removed and replaced with the skill you would have gotten if you'd have finished the quest as a Ranger.

No to the above poster.
Just plain and simple, you get all skills you have unlocked.
Maybe, make it so you get all the skills you've unlocked for your prim/sec once you have ascended.
Then I will unlock some Mo skills, and farm with my N/Me.
If Anet does this, I will indeed worship them!

I truly hope this will be made possible with one of the new updates. Its hard enough as it is to gain enough skillpoints to unlock all the skills for your primary and secondary character, let alone that you would have to rebuy skills you have allready unlocked with one of your other characters to get some usefull skills for a new secondary..

Heh... It might be worth it to change a character to __ and then change it back rather than unlocking everything. Sounds good, but I was under the impression PvEers loved to grind for their skills, etc. . Anyway... if you'd enjoy it, sure, why not?
